Position Overview Reporting to the Manager, Generation this position is responsible to provide effective delivery of core operations and/or significant project implementation involving the coordination of significant material, people and financial resources to 3rd party contracts.

Responsibilities Develops and implements annual operational/project plans and holds supervisors and managers accountable for safe & effective implementation, cost control and the achievement of pre-defined results. Develop and execute annual objectives, deliverables, and work plans related to generation, regulatory compliance at FBC and 3rd party generation facilities and emergency response. Manage skilled team(s) and resources to meet operational demands as required. Act as the primary point of contact for 3rd party contract stakeholders where local support and/or input is required; establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, contractors, builders and environmental management personnel. Manages the coordination of multiple work streams or growth projects with multiple components, typically involving large teams and complex allocation of time and resources. Anticipates and executes plans to address operational and/or implementation obstacles, including reallocation of significant resources. Challenges the impact and efficiency of policies and processes in own area of responsibility and makes changes to optimize operational efficiency and ensure safety. Assesses the technical, operational or economic feasibility of proposed solutions, including the evaluation of new operational technology or processes. Assesses and manages operational and project risk, including recommendations to mitigate risk through contingency planning and operational/project controls. Ensures a culture of safety by reinforcing the importance of operational safety and ensuring safety standards and protocols are a priority for managers. Recruits, coaches, and develops employees to enable future capability and build a pipeline for talent. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or Diploma of Technology in a related discipline from a recognized program, Certified Member in the Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of BC or a Professional equivalent, plus 8 to 12 years related experience in a leadership capacity or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Technical Competencies:

Knowledge of budget concept and principles Knowledge of 3rd Party hydro electric operating and power purchase contracts. Responsible and accountable for operations management and performance measurement in assigned areas. Knowledge of regulatory framework, requirements, codes and business model Knowledge of Company policies, standards and procedures Knowledge of safety management, processes and procedures Knowledge of transmission & distribution systems Knowledge of project management procedures and practices Knowledge of human resource policies and procedures including matters related to labour relations, recruitment and performance management Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to staff Demonstrated ability to attend to emergencies and co-ordinate activities under stressful situations Demonstrated ability to effectively manage projects/programs and related costs Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and demanding work schedules Demonstrated ability to apply conflict resolution skills Computer skills with application software tools and applications
