The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development is responsible for the stewardship of provincial Crown land and ensures the sustainable management of forest, wildlife, water and other land-based resources. The Ministry works with Indigenous and rural communities to strengthen and diversify their economies.
Reporting to a Scaling Supervisor, other bargaining unit supervisor or excluded manager, the Interior Check Scaler contributes to ensuring complete and accurate scaling is performed by industry in compliance with the Forest Act, Forest and Range Practices Act, various regulations, provincial policies and regional/district procedures, and ensuring that accurate revenue is returned to the Crown. As a designated Forest Officer under the Forest Act, and the Forest and Range Practices Act, the position carries significant legal authorities.

Job Requirements: In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
Valid BC Scaling Licence with valid Interior Grading Endorsement Preference may be given for the following:
Recent (in the past 3 years) experience in Waste and Residue surveys. Provisos
Valid BC Drivers Licence. Must be willing to wear a uniform representing the Scaling program and the Ministry as required. (under review) Willing to work in adverse weather conditions. Willing to operate a variety of equipment including quads, electronic equipment and accompanying computer applications. Applicants selected to move forward in the hiring process may be assessed on the Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies as outlined in the attached Job Profile located in the Additional Information section at the bottom of the posting.
