Description:

Job Description:

Reporting to the Farms to Friends Program Director, the Health Promotion Program Officer will be responsible for supporting Farms to Friends, the local food sourcing and delivery program for low-income households.

Tasks include:

-Researching, analyzing and collecting data

-Organizing and delivering produce to low-income households

-Cleaning delivery supplies and equipment

-Checking with and surveying households

-Assisting with program outreach efforts, incl. developing weekly materials for low-income families, community engagement, photography, supporting digital program promotion

-Supporting communications efforts, including website updates, social media support, database maintenance, writing, editing, layout, design and promotion tasks as needed,

-Providing a high level of professionalism, confidentiality and service to served communities

-Coordinating and training volunteers

-Attending and setting up virtual meetings

-Participating in leadership skills training

-Following all COVID-19 protocols to work safely

-Other tasks as needed by the Program Team

Required Qualifications:

-Strong research and report writing skills with attention to detail

-Leadership and teamwork skills, but also able to work independently

-Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

-Ability to work some evenings and weekends (occasionally)

-Suitable home office during social distancing requirements with access to reliable internet

-Must be able to complete a Criminal Record Check

-Experience/familiarity with the Farms to Friends program is preferred

-Valid driver’s licence, and ability to use own vehicle (mileage reimbursable) or Kootenay Carshare vehicles

Eligibility

This is a wage subsidized position thanks to the Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible, applicants must fit the following criteria:

-be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment

-be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*

-be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

**International students are not eligible to apply

Additional:

Compensation: $19.75

Duration: 7 weeks

Between the following dates: May 1st or later

Hours: 30 hrs/ week

Location: Nelson, BC, but working from home (offices closed due to COVID)
