Summary

This hands-on operational role will appeal to a dynamic, transformative and adaptable Operations professional, one with the ability to build a role in an evolving environment. Reporting to the Regional Vice President, British Columbia Solid Waste, the General Manager will be responsible to oversee the complete operations of two operations - Trail & Grand Forks, BC - in alignment with the regional and overall organization targets, processes and initiatives.

Job Duties

Oversee day to day operations of commercial and residential collection service Liaise with management and regional peers to execute on operational activities and strategic goals Build deep and trust relationships with a variety of clients and customers, ensuring contractual compliance and proactively responding to and resolving concerns or issues Take appropriate action to meet and exceed established financial targets Ensure all safety guidelines and policies are strictly adhered to Plan and monitor staffing plans to ensure effective and efficient running of the day-to-day operations Evaluate regularly the efficiency of business procedures according to organizational objectives, adjusting as needed Manage relationships/agreements with contracts to ensure compliance Logistical decisions, ensuring consistent operations of day to day collection schedules Evaluate overall performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data

Requirements 3-5 years of experience in progressive operational leadership roles, with a demonstrated commitment to safety Waste industry experience preferred; equivalencies will be considered Minimum class 3 license or pursuit of Experience working in a large complex multiple stakeholder environments Strong leadership skills focused on results and teamwork, with a client service orientation Ability to resolve matters independently, while using appropriate judgment to seek guidance and counsel as required to navigate complex matters Excellent negotiation and communication skills (written and verbal) High attention to detail and a proven track record of project execution Ability to work independently, under pressure and adapt to evolving priorities and timelines Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism Demonstrated ability to influence change within the organization by building and leveraging working relationships Travel across the region will be required
