Summit Truck and Equipment Repair in Salmo BC, part of Sutherland Group Enterprises (SGE), is currently seeking a General Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will oversee and be accountable for the administration and operations of the business.

Leading by example, ingraining the Sutherland Group’s 7 Commitments for Excellence and Success in Summit’s operations at all levels and building a team work focused environment. Actively contributing to a positive, “Safety First” culture. Forecasts goals and objectives for the department and supports efforts to achieve them. Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers. Develop and maintain policies and procedures for Summit Operations, with support from SGE corporate services (HR, Safety, Finance). Monitors and controls the performance of the department using appropriate reports, inventory controls, tracking systems, and surveys. Invoicing for work completed. Hiring, managing, training and developing support staff. Prepares and administers an annual operating budget. Maintains open communications and good relationships with all departments. Maintains reporting systems required by Sutherland Group Enterprises. Manages the Summit Parts Department and Administration. Working in collaboration with the Service Manager to ensure quality service is provided to Summit’s customers.
3-5 years within the transportation industry. Heavy duty truck parts experience is an asset. Red Seal Parts Technician (Partsperson 3) designation is a significant asset. Must be able to work safely in a high-pressure environment. Must possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills. A working knowledge of all provincial and federal transportation regulations. Strong organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, conflict resolution skills and critical thinking skills. Mid-level computer skills, must be able to navigate Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Mechanically inclined, able to troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment. An ability to prioritize and multi task; specifically, the ability to handle more than one situation or challenge at any given time systematically while maintaining personal composure. Thorough understanding of the transportation Industry. Ability to work in a professional office setting; close quarters, lots of interfacing with multiple personalities.
