Job Description

The Finishing Lead Hand under the direction of the Fabrication Supervisor, is responsible for the proactive review and planning of upcoming projects and runs to ensure we alleviate bottlenecks and maximize efficiencies. They will assist in implementing the best layout of product on the floor to ensure efficient processing and a reduction of handling. The Finishing Lead Hand is aware of the strengths of the team and allocates skills to positions of most effective use, while maintaining an eye on how to improve training depth within the group.


Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures. Uphold our safety program standards, including all necessary documentation, in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety Regulations. Accountable for achieving production targets and quality expectations. Review production paperwork in advance to determine and optimize flow to achieve quality standards and efficiencies. Responsible for all material on the floor, as well as maintaining flow to the CNC. Responsible for assisting CNC operator with the loading and offloading, as required. Ensure production of quality products in alignment with Kalesnikoff’s world-class standards Assist in inventory management, as it relates to finishing roles (i.e., consuming tags, tagging finished product, etc.) Helping to mark up shop drawings for handwork requirements. Coordinate finishing requirements of beams as it aligns with customer specifications.] Completing all aspects of finishing work, from sanding, staining, patchwork, packaging, hardware installing to material handling (crane, forklift) and occasional CNC operation, or assistance. Assist in developing, reviewing, and approving role specific operations manuals and safety documentation. Assisting in training other teammates and providing feedback on performance/growth and coaching opportunities to manager. Creating training plans in conjunction with the manager to ensure development of team. Completing other responsibilities as assigned.


Completion of a post-secondary program is considered an asset. Experience in Timber Framing, Fine Woodworking, Cabinet Making or other woodworking skills, an asset. Experience with species identification an asset Ability to use measuring devices, such as (but not limited to) tape measure both imperial and metric, calipers. Ability to read blueprints/shop drawings. Excellent Communication skills

Terms of employment 40 hours/week.
