Role and objective:

Kalesnikoff has an opportunity for a focused and detail-oriented Financial Analyst with strong interpersonal skills to join our team at our sawmill office between Nelson and Castlegar, BC. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for providing analysis, reconciling costs and identifying areas for improvement.

Responsibilities:

Assist with project accounting and margin analysis Perform tasks to ensure accurate recognition of manufacturing costs Prepare, set up and review work orders and other job costing system entries Assist with capital budgeting and payback analysis Provide analysis and support for the development of long-term capex plans Review fixed asset purchases, reconcile and review assets under construction and the asset clearing GL accounts as part of month-end close Prepare and post month-end journals Reconcile various subledgers to GL Cost analysis Analyze various P&L line items to identify associated impact of short-term and long-term goals of the site and organization Discover the root causes of internal and external facts that are influencing performance and outcomes Identify opportunities to enhance margins and reduce working capital Assist in preparation of annual budgets and perform budget variance and analysis Prepare quarterly budget reports Support and guide budget users and managers Utilize the understanding of ERP system and business processes to identify and solve issues by working in collaboration with cross-functional resources

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Commerce Minimum 2 years of work experience in finance/ accounting, ideally with a manufacturing background Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Strong interpersonal and customer service skills A professional accounting designation (e.g. CPA) is preferred Strong financial data analysis skills Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and relevant accounting software Experience working within an ERP System considered an asset Ability to provide financial advice and guidance to non-financial departments or teams Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment
