Job Description

Working with the Board of Directors, Administration Team, and Program Coordinators, Kootenay Kids’ Executive Director will lead the society through their strategic plan and oversee operations within a unionized, CARF accredited workplace

This is a diverse and rewarding position for a passionate leader with a strong background in the non-profit sector and proven administrative experience. You are known for your innovative ideas and will have an in-depth knowledge of community-based programs and services, funding sources, community relations, and Board relations, as well as experience with accreditation.

As an inspirational leader and skillful communicator, you cultivate relationships creating high-performing teams, facilitating collaborative initiatives, and playing a lead role in government and stakeholder relations as an agency advocate.


Kootenay Kids Society is a multi-service non-profit with a 40-year history of supporting families and young children in the Nelson area. We operate multiple programs with nearly 50 staff and five locations in Nelson. Funded largely by government contracts, we deliver a wide range of programs and services including licensed childcare, Indigenous family programs, resources for childcare providers, physiotherapy and occupational therapy for young children, parent education programs, and opportunities for families to meet socially and connect with each other. We are unionized through the British Columbia Government and Service Employees’ Union and are accredited through CARF.

You will receive a competitive wage and full benefits along with a collaborative work environment. This is a part-time, 28 hours per week position (.80 FTE).
