Job Description

Red Mountain Resort is looking for an experienced Casual Dispatcher and First Aid Attendant to join our Patrol team. This position reports to the Patrol Director and must be available to work weekends and early morning start times. The Dispatcher will be responsible for coordinating an effective communication link between all departments, maintaining radio dispatch logs, data entry, performing daily on-hill staff check-in and out and data entry as required.

They will provide first aid to walk in guests and staff when needed and assist Patrollers with patients brought down from the alpine. This position does not work on skis or snowboard

Essential Duties: Receive all incoming calls related to patrol, lift maintenance, lift evacuations, emergencies, ambulance and other items requiring dispatch. Inform all appropriate personnel and departments if problems occur such as lift delays. Record all time and data for clearances, lift openings, lift line status, run condition checks, patrol sweeps, and on-hill staff check-in and out. Ensure accident report forms are filled out properly and enter data into Canada West Ski Areas Association program on a regular basis. Ensure HR and Safety Director is informed of any staff injuries requiring further medical attention and providing First Aid records. Record data and coordinate all snowmobile movements in log. Ensure all snowcats are off the hill prior to opening. Receive and dispatch all weather data. Continuously review and update Patroller’s locations. Review Patroller’s accident forms submitted for completeness and accuracy. Design and develop daily operation forms. Ensure all daily operations data is filed efficiently and accurately. Coordinate First Aid room activities during emergencies. Receive data and dispatch RCMP during Search and Rescue (SAR) operations. Implement or assist with the implementation of emergency response procedures. Treat walk-in guest and staff injuries including assessment, treatment, transport decision and post treatment clean up in first aid room. Penmanship must be legible and tidy; attention to detail on forms is a must. Qualifications: Must have a current WSBC Occupational First Aid Certificate 3 or PEAK NUEC3/NUOFA3. Must be familiar with and experienced using radio protocol, able to speak clearly, understand, transmit, receive and record information accurately. Must have solid geographic knowledge of Red Resort ski area to include major lift zones, locations, access, all areas named on trail maps and location of all signage, lift evacuation tees and toboggan points. Must have strong decision-making skills under pressure, and be able to relay clear, concise, and accurate information to all departments. Demonstrated ability to deal with individuals and situations that may be stressful or demanding in order to resolve problems, clarify issues and provide efficient service. Able to multi-task, prioritize, and organize a large workload. Well versed in all administrative tasks including documentation, meeting minutes, meeting coordination, scheduling etc. Proficient and experienced using all Microsoft office programs including Word and Excel. Basic knowledge or past experience with emergency procedures. Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited direction and supervision. Able to build and maintain working relationships with all other staff members Grade 12 Education Only qualified applicants will be contacted for interviews.
