The Skills Centre is hiring!

Based in beautiful Trail, BC, on the traditional territory of the Sinixt, Ktunaxa, Syilx and Secwepemc peoples, the Skills Centre is hiring a full-time (34 hours/week) Development Assistant. The position pays $22-24/hr depending on experience plus benefits. This position is based at the Skills Centre office. All Skills Centre employees have access to extensive training and supports.

Duties include: • Identify suitable government funding opportunities and potential donors, including individual and corporate donors • Search fundraising databases for grant opportunities • Build strong relationships with individuals, corporations and foundations • Solicit donations and sponsorships from individuals, corporations and foundations • Deliver prompt, personal and meaningful gift acknowledgement correspondence • Develop engagement and stewardship materials including newsletters and thank you letters • Create compelling correspondence that clearly and effectively articulates the impact that the individual, corporation or foundation’s contribution has made • Maintain records of giving • Develop and manage donor database • Work alongside development manager to support grant development including proposal writing and reporting requirements • Assist with organizing special events and fundraising activities • Analyze donor and related data • Develop promotional materials in collaboration with the communications team and the development manager

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in social work, psychology, social sciences, education, marketing and communications or equivalent working experience in related field.
  • Some previous experience in grant writing and philanthropy.
  • Confident speaker and communicator.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with computer programs and software (e.g. Microsoft, funding databases, customer relationship management).
  • Experience working respectfully in multi-cultural communities.
  • Willingness to complete different trainings such as Psychological Safety training as required.
