Role & Objectives:

The Design Tech will be responsible for supporting the Sales Team and Project Manager in concept design, 3D modeling and critical project elements to ensure successful design of Mass Timber structures. You will interpret the project plans and ensure the structural design maximizes the best possible use of our Glulam & Cross Laminated Timber products, while meeting the customers’ vision and objectives.

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Company’s Project Manager and in cooperation with the Company’s Sales Lead and Production Manager, developing initial 2 and 3 D structural and architectural mass timber component and connection project plans Align architectural designs with structural designs and identify and resolve any discrepancies that may arise in the process Working and communicating with sales, production, fabrication, installation and client teams to effectively transfer design files into shop and production drawings and assembly documents Creating schedules and other files required to successfully complete internal and external project documentation (managing and modifying Company historic files). Ability to read blueprints and architectural specifications

Qualifications:

Architectural and/or Building Technology Diploma Experience drafting, shop drawing or 3-D modeling with CADWorks, Rhino, Revit, Solidworks, or other 3D design software’s. Working knowledge of Engineered Wood Product (EWP) and EWP standards including CSA 086, ANSI/APA – PRG 320 Standard for Performance-Rated Cross-Laminated Timber and ANSI Standard A190.1-2012, Standard for Wood Products—Structural Glued Laminated Timber Ability to multi-task and prioritize in order to meet deadlines Excellent verbal and written communications skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
