The City of Trail is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to fill the full-time position of Bylaw Enforcement Officer. Located in the West Kootenay region, the City of Trail is situated on the banks of the mighty Columbia River. Reporting to the Corporate Administrator, the incumbent will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day enforcement of the City’s regulatory bylaws with emphasis on the Traffic and Unsightly Premises Bylaw. The Bylaw Enforcement Officer also acts as the City’s Business Licence Inspector and is responsible for processing business licence applications.

Qualifications for this position include:

Relevant experience in bylaw enforcement, supplemented by Bylaw Enforcement and Investigative Skills Level 1 and Level 2, sponsored by the Justice Institute of BC (or equivalent). Ability to understand and apply the provisions of the City’s regulatory bylaws. Ability to deal effectively and politely with the public and to effectively communicate (both verbally and in writing). Must have demonstrated experience working with computer programs in a Windows environment; experience in using Vadim municipal software desirable. Must have the ability to work reliably with minimum supervision. Valid BC class 5 drivers license.

This position is within the CUPE Local 2087 Bargaining Unit. The hourly wage for this position is $38.92 with benefits as per the Collective Agreement.
