Able to represent the VISAC Gallery and it’s spaces in a positive, welcoming, and appropriate manner.

An eager and strong work ethic with the ability to be flexible and take on both leadership and supportive roles as needed.
Has reliable transportation and ability to travel to local towns and community partners.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
A strong desire to support the arts, artists, and those art-interested in the community.
Grant management experience.
Experience with event coordination.
Experience creating marketing content and promotional materials.
The Artistic Director will take a lead role in curating all exhibits and ensure that an annual exhibition schedule is planned for in advance. Exhibits will have a coherent vision, include all the visual arts over time and must reflect on the mandate of the gallery. Create an exhibit/artist timeline for those artists about to show work in the Gallery. Set clear, easy to understand expectations and support for the artists, this ensures success in the curating and promoting of exhibits.
Coordinate with Exhibiting artists about a smooth and secure drop off and pick up of artworks. Know where exhibit pieces to be picked up are kept. Give clear and on-time directions to artists exhibiting. Let volunteers know if/when they may be needed and when to expect the artist.
Connecting, supporting, and working with the exhibitor/artists and overseeing the hanging of a show to ensure the timely and professional exhibit completion/opening.
Keep charge of permanent collections; ensuring it’s upkeep is maintained. Keep storage rooms orderly and documented. Work with Gallery Assistant to ensure these are maintained and tidied throughout the year.
Sales; art work & other: record sales in sales log. Work as a team to ensure the sales log is up to date (Shared with the Gallery Manager depending on who is on duty at the time.) Notify artists of the good news and coordinate with buyer pick up times of bought work.
PROMOTION & COMMUNITY:
Ensure promotions regarding all shows, events, & programs are out for publication in a timely manner (normally at least 2 weeks prior). Includes print ads, press releases, posters, website, social media, email, etc. Work alongside the Gallery Assistant to keep VISAC’s marketing cohesive, professional, and inclusive.
Website and FB page: along with the Gallery Assistant, update both with current events, classes, and little promos on what's happening at the Gallery and Creative Center.
Newsletter: be aware of information that may be suitable for the next Newsletter, document and pass on to the person doing the newsletter. Send out email newsletter to all VISAC members when appropriate. i.e. when a new exhibit is opening, or a new class has registration spots open, call for submissions etc.
Liaising with the artistic community and cultural agencies. i.e. Connect with the local high school art class (teacher & students), connect with local artists, and other galleries. (This may well mean having meetings with external parties during office hours at which time arrangements for a volunteer to cover will be needed.)
Liaising with the public visiting the Gallery. Ensuring Gallery visitors are documented. Interpret exhibits for both the public and other gallery attendants to ensure they are able to properly explain current exhibitions to guests. (Shared with the Gallery Manager depending on who is on duty at the time).
