THE ROLE This role reports to the Vice President and interacts with senior management, direct reports, internal departments, legal counsel, operating branches, front-line managers, external agents, vendors, and key contacts with current and potential customers. LOCATION :Trail, BC (Relocation allowance provided) TRAVEL REQUIREMENT : 25-30%
RESPONSIBILITIES This position is responsible for: Developing and growing the profitability of multiple branches in a geographical area Finding continuous improvement in efficiencies to achieve financial targets Leading Terminal Managers in their area P&L responsibility for their area Assisting truckline operations to meet to exceed the service performance requirements of eternal customers Setting and achieving 4DX commitments and targets Overseeing and regulating the day-to-day operations in their area Developing and preparing operation plans, programs, budgets and forecasts Ensuring the most effective utilization of facilities, equipment and manpower using continuous improvement tools Creating and maintaining positive relations with our customers; and Establishing and maintaining the necessary operational systems and procedures and maintain limitations and controls.
SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE Proven track record of group leadership and commitment to quality. An entrepreneurial business orientation and a demonstrated achievement in bottom-line results. A strategic visionary with commercial skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus. A decisive individual who possesses a "big picture" perspective, exhibits sound and accurate judgment and makes timely decisions. Identifies and resolves problems proactively and in a timely manner. Looks for ways to improve and promote safety, quality, and profitability. Proficiency using software in a Windows environment. An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills. Strong negotiation skills. Experience with drafting, interpreting, and implementing contracts. Delegates work assignments, gives authority to work independently, sets expectations, monitors delegated activities, and holds people accountable.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE High School Diploma required; post-secondary education preferred. Requires a minimum of 10 years of management/operations experience in the transportation or similar business. Experience with Heavy equipment and yellow goods considered to be an asset. Demonstrated experience in diversity products such as chemical, pressurized commodities, dry bulk, oilfield aggregates would be an asset. Proven record of leading large team and delivering results in a unionized environment. Working knowledge with operating systems ISAAC and TMW would be considered an asset.
