Affordable Housing Administrator
The Lower Columbia Affordable Housing Society (LCAHS) is seeking a temporary Affordable Housing Administrator to join our team . The Affordable Housing Administrator is responsible for providing a range of administrative and operational services for the Society. This position will provide an excellent opportunity to learn about the growing field of affordable housing development and management. This position will be based in the Lower Columbia Region.
The mandate of the LCAHS is to develop and manage affordable housing for low to moderate income households in the Lower Columbia Region. The Society currently owns and operates 19 units of affordable rental housing in Trail and Rossland and is in the process of developing an additional 37 units in Rossland and 31 units in Fruitvale.
Reporting to Janet Morton, the Board President, the Affordable Housing Administrator will provide general administrative support, coordinate tenant recruitment, support the development of building management systems and assist with communication and marketing strategies. The primary focus will be to support the planning and implementation of operations and services for Rossland Yards, an affordable workplace rental housing building which is scheduled for occupancy in early 2023.
This position is funded, in part, by the Columbia Basin Trust – Affordable Housing Basin Job Experience Program which requires that the successful applicant is:
• a permanent resident of the Columbia Basin;
• legally entitled to work in Canada;
• not a relative of senior management or Director of the Society;
• not a student; and
• unemployed or underemployed (in relation to weekly hours of work, previous work experience and/or formal training).
Preferred Experience and Qualifications: • Experience in administration, program coordination or project management and/or working for a non profit organization; • Good organizational, interpersonal and written communication skills; • Competent in the use of technology and e-communication; • Basic financial administration skills; and • Knowledge of communications and marketing strategies.
Work Location: The position will be based in the Lower Columbia Region (also known as Greater Trail). The successful candidate will work from home, with access to technology required for the role. Preference will be given candidates living in or close to the Lower Columbia Region, given requirements for meetings and other on-site activities.
Terms of Employment • The Affordable Housing Administrator position is a temporary work experience position, currently scheduled to end December 31, 2022; • The Administrator will work part-time, an average of 21 hours per week; • Valid driver’s license and access a vehicle to travel throughout the region; • A Criminal Record check will be required prior to employment; • Proof of COVID vaccination; and • The Administrator reports to and is supervised by Jan Morton, President, LCAHS
Salary and Benefits • Salary range: $25 - $30 per hour with access to extended health benefits. • The LCAHS will provide employment-specific computer hardware and software and access to Internet service.
