Job Description

The Accounts Payable Associate serves the organization by completing vendor payments by receiving, verifying, processing and reconciling invoices in a timely and efficient manner, while ensuring a keen eye to detail to prevent errors in the system. The Accounts Payable Associate is a team player who is committed to quality work, while maintaining good working relationships both within the mill and with vendors. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, complete discretion is expected as this position may deal with privileged information.

This is a term position that will last approximately two years, beginning in the spring of 2022, with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities

Review, verify and process invoices, expenses, cheque requisitions and purchase orders using computerized and manual systems Follow up and obtain clarification on any discrepancies or inaccuracies on invoices and/or purchase orders Reconcile monthly Visa statements, and vendor statements Contact both vendors and colleagues in a professional manner, helping to resolve their inquiries and any issues that arise Assist with outstanding invoices with no lines, rejected invoices, and invoices requiring amendments for Purchase Orders Verify payment proposals provided by the Cash Accountant, advise of any issues, print cheques and mail out to vendors Coverage for Logistics & Warehouse management during vacation periods Coverage for Outbound pulp shipments to various warehouses and customers during vacation periods Perform other administrative accounting duties as required Education and Experience

Completion of Grade 12 Post secondary education in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred 3-5 years of progressive experience in related role(s) with emphasis in Accounts Payable Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, knowledge of structured query language (SQL) considered an asset Demonstrated ability with computerized AP systems Mercer International Inc.
