POSITION DESCRIPTION

Working Title: Accounts Receivable / Accounts Payable Clerk
Supervisor's Title: Controller
POSITION SUMMARY
This position involves the incumbent performing basic and routine accounting function by reconciling accounts payable and accounts receivable schedules, reconciling and preparing daily cash deposits and updating receivable ledgers.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actioning Accounts Payable and Receivable processes, reconcile transactions with statements and prepare daily cash deposit, and update receivable ledger. Prepare and check all invoices and obtains appropriate payment approval. Processes/receipts all cash and credit card transactions received in the accounting office.
Prints all accounts payable reports and maintains all accounts payable files.
Reconciles statement and the ledger making sure that payments are consistent with dealership schedules.
Prepares accounts receivable statements monthly.
Performs credit checks on credit applications. Obtains approvals for current charges.
Offer creative budget, cash flow and other financial solutions as needed, and provides AP/AR assistance the Finance Office as required.
May be required to assist with reception duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
The incumbent receives clear job expectations, appraisal of job contributions, and coordination of daily work activities and assigned work and inspection of completed work as required from the Controller.
The incumbent also ensures that s/he is maintaining a high degree of accuracy in respect of preparation of statements and performing vendor maintenance.
MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT- All standard office equipment including postal machine, telephone systems and computer related electronics.

In performing the position duties and responsibilities, the Incumbent may be faced with the following demands:
Physical Demands: The position exposes the Account Receivable / Account Payable Clerk to physical hazards from sitting for long periods at a desk and computer screen and can involve evening and weekend work hours. Mental Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; pay high attention to detail and organization, proficiency with financial software and strong independent research ability.
CERTIFICATIONS
This position requires the incumbent to have a High School diploma. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field is an asset.
