Courses

True-to-life practice in a safe, no-risk environment

The Skills Centre for Health Sciences facilitates training initiatives across the entire healthcare continuum. With this broad scope, the Centre hosts courses covering all sectors of surgical specialities, medicine and nursing, including:

  • critical care
  • anesthesia
  • family medicine
  • emergency medicine
  • respiratory therapy

Simulated learning now part of core curricula for most surgical residents

Core curriculum courses are available to residents in most surgical divisions, and training sessions are offered throughout the year by each surgical department. The Faculty of Medicine’s Continuing Medical Education (CME) division also conducts a variety of courses through the Centre.

From nursing training to healthcare technology conferences

The Registered Nurses Professional Development Centre actively engages the Skills Centre for perioperative nursing and nursing re-entry training, as well as other nursing education programs. The Skills Centre also hosts private conferences sponsored by healthcare technology companies to educate and train professionals on their products and new procedures.
